Waimakariri 1 Solar Farm - 5 MW
The Waimakariri Solar Farm sits across eight hectares of an existing farm near Rangiora. It includes approximately 8000 solar panels, and is a mid-sized, dual-use solar farm, where animals can continue grazing while renewable energy is generated.
Construction is underway and it will connect to the MainPower network from Q2 2026.
The farm will generate 5 MW of renewable energy, which will mostly be consumed locally, providing for some of the district’s daytime energy needs.
