WAIUKU Solar FARM 2.4 MW
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The 2.4 MW Waiuku Solar Farm is located over three hectares of farmland in Waiuku, south of Auckland. It was commissioned in October 2023 and is now commercially operative, on the Counties Energy network. The paddocks are being shared with pigs and small cows.
Nearly 4,000 solar panels serve two functions: Generating energy and providing mixed land use with pigs and other small livestock. It will produce enough energy to power approximately 500 homes.
Electricity retailer Prime Energy has partnered with Lightyears Solar to purchase the output from the solar farms under a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA).
