ASHBURTON SOLAR FArm 7.2 MW
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Ashburton Solar Farm is a community-scale solar farm of 7.2 MW capacity, connected to the local Ashburton power network. The solar farm will cover eight hectares of an existing 16 hectare rural lifestyle farm south of Ashburton. The landowner will graze sheep under the solar farm array and the solar farm lease will supplement income from the farm.
The site will contain thousands of solar panels that will track the movement of the sun across the day. The project will produce clean electrical energy, which will help to power irrigation pumps through the summer months.
The solar farm is expected to be operational by late 2024.
